THE PLAY-A-THON IS BACK!

On January 15, 2022 the El Cerrito High School Bands will participate in a 10-hour music marathon aimed to raise $15,000. Presented by the Friends of El Cerrito Music, the Play-a-thon will provide funds for new instruments, equipment, and support various musical activities that include band festivals, clinics, coaches, and travel opportunities. The Play-a-thon will include ongoing musical performances and activities featuring the ECHS Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Workshop, and Gaucho Band. Highlights include sessions for elementary and middle school band students, an outdoor concert, chamber music concert, and an evening concert in the Performing Arts Theater. All activities are FREE!

8:00am: Open Rehearsal w/ Concert Band
9:30am: Band Reading Session w/ Wind Ensemble
11:00am: Elementary School Band Session w/ Symphonic Band
12:30pm: Gaucho Band Concert in the Quad *
2:00pm: Middle School Band Session w/ Wind Ensemble
3:30pm: Chamber Music Concert *
5:00pm: Jazz Concert *

Following WCCUSD safety protocols, the Performing Arts Theater is open at 50% capacity for all band concerts. Attendees will need to be seated “every other seat” and must bring a photo ID and proof of vaccination or negative PCR test with three days of the event in order to attend. Masks are required to be worn at all times (including student performers). Due to the limited seating capacity there will only be a limited number of tickets available for each concert.

ELEMENTARY & MIDDLE SCHOOL PARTICIPANT INFO

The elementary and middle school sessions are intended for ECHS feeder schools: Harding, Fairmont, Madera, Kensington, Washington, Korematsu, and Mira Vista schools. To register, please submit the form below. All elementary and middle school participants must show proof of vaccination upon arrival. Check-in for both sessions will take place in the ECHS Quad 30-minutes prior to the start of the session.
